Every hardware store is now full of racks like these, so I’ll try to point out what stands out.
Quality seems above average, the powder coat feels durable and and the shelf supports have metal rivets rather than the little tabs that bend. It’s a very tight fit and you really have to hammer them down. The plastic end covers are made from slightly better plastic than usual and don’t warp as easily. This is really two half height units that stack using little connectors. The connectors wrap all the way around the posts which seems better than some other, wimpy ones I’ve seen. The post themselves are not particularly thick metal,I don’t have much experience with storing 1000s of lbs on these, so I can’t speak to that.
It follows the disappointing trend of including junk tools in the box, in a misguided effort to seem accessible and say “no tools needed”. They include a tiny plastic hammer and some very cheap, thin fabric gloves. You definitely do need a hammer for this, but the toy hammer they include is useless (and also makes a horrendous amount of noise). Btw, tip: Use a piece of wood when hammering so it doesn’t mar the coating. The gloves are completely useless also, I recommend using some real, leather gloves – although nothing was particularly sharp so if you’re careful to not drop anything on your hands or pinch (and make sure the aforementioned wood doesn’t have splinters) you don’t really need gloves.
Over the last few years, this trend of including junky tools has escalated to the point where it’s hard to call it anything but actively hostile to the environment. I recommend they drop the price by $5 and leave out the tools. Who is buying shelves for their garage and doesn’t have a hammer?

The shelf for one thing was very easy to put together, it is a utility shelf but I use it for my dining room. It is perfect for storing dishes and other things. It was very easy to assemble, as it came with a mallet to hammer edit together. It really gives a industrial look if you use it inside. Would definitely recommend especially for the price, it is very heavy duty! So many things nowadays are overpriced and this is not one of them. It is worth every penny!

Once put together they are nice shelves, but the process of putting them together was akin to trying to wrangle cats into a straight line, as soon as you think you have all four bars for one shelf in, one pops out and you have to wrestle it back in place, and then another pops out.
Before you start, dig out your hammer, you’re going to need it once you stop laughing at the ridiculous toy plastic hammer they include. They also include a pair of gloves that are not worth your time to even try, they are a joke. There are no sharp edges and the only risk of injury is if a support bar pops out and hits your thumb (OK, maybe I should have worn my real work gloves). You’ll also need your detective hat because the assembly instructions are sorely lacking. There is a piece that’s not even shown on the parts list or the instructions (see photo) but it turns out to be the support bars that go in the middle of the shelves.
The posts and shelf support pieces are metal, powder coated and seem very strong and sturdy, especially the shelf supports. The boards are thinner than I expected, and sit down further than their photo shows. In reality they leave a small lip around the edge which would be fine for preventing things from rolling off, but require items to be lifted rather than slid off when removing them from the shelf.
The instructions don’t show it but when connecting the two pieces of each post, you’ll need to put the connector on the bottom piece, slip the top piece in, and hammer it down to where the edge of both pieces touch. They do include molly bolts if you want to anchor it to the wall which would be a good idea if you really plan to store 2000 pounds of stuff on these shelves.
Helpful tip: don’t put the top corner pieces on until you have your shelf in place. Also, use a piece of wood placed on the shelf brackets when hammering them down so you don’t scratch the finish.
Overall they are nice shelves when assembled, and seem very strong and sturdy. I have them in my shed to help keep things organized. I don’t know if they truly hold 2000 pounds as claimed, but I do like them, would get them again, and do give them my recommendation.
One star deducted for the lack of proper instructions, the silly toy hammer, and sad little gloves included.

The shelving unit was pretty easy to put together, although there was a little confusion since there were five metal pieces included in the box that were not listed on the parts list and weren’t shown anywhere on the instructions. After pondering the pieces I had, I discovered they were support bars to insert at the halfway point of the long side of the shelf…which is an added design feature that I approve of since the metal frame and shelf aren’t as hefty as other units that I have used. While it came with a rubber mallet, I strongly recommend upgrading to a hammer if you have one since it will make the process much faster–it only took me one or two taps of the hammer to make the pieces settle firmly in place, while the rubber mallet was not that successful. I ordered this to help organize my storage room and at the time I had expected to only be able to have my totes on one or two shelves with the rest of the shelves smaller, however this unit was tall enough to have all of the shelves fit the totes I was using, which was a pleasant surprise. I don’t think the weight limit that the listing said (400 lb per shelf) is at all realistic based on the thickness of the metal of the frame and the shelf boards.
