I purchased the 8-inch version of the Wen drill press and have been very pleased with it so far. I had seen it in the big-box store prior to purchasing it here on Amazon and I am glad that I purchased it on Amazon, it was $27 cheaper than at the store. So, that’s pretty awesome!
The overall construction is very good. The unit is nice and heavy, the base is super solid and supports the weight of the head of the unit very well. All of the castings are smooth and do not have any cracks. The baseplate might be small for some, but it’s just about right for me. I plan on building a small fence for the bed so it will be extended anyways.
Unfortunately, the bed of my unit does have some rust on it straight out of the box.(pictures) While it’s a little bit of a bummer, it doesn’t affect the performance of the machine. But it would be nice if it was rust free.
I do have one slight complaint and it’s mostly just because the lack of a feature. I am not a huge fan of how the depth guide works, the two nut setup is kind of a challenge to get right because the space is so tight to get a wrench in there. The nuts on my drill press were so tight, I had a hard time getting them loose in order to adjust the depth. If there was an alternate way to set the depth, or perhaps if the guide was moved outward a little from the head of the unit, that would make it easier to adjust. Once I freed the nuts, they have become a little easier to move, but the gap between the nuts / depth guide-rod and the head of the drill press is a little tight, so it does make getting the fingers in there a bit tight. It’s doable though, just not ideal.
Also, I do wish you could lock the drill press into a down position if you’d like, but it’s not possible on this unit. Which I suppose is asking a bit much for something in this price range. I think you ptobsbly could add a nut at the bottom of the depth guide to act as a “lock” but other than that, it’s not possible.
All of the dials, nuts, bolts, belts and springs are extremely tight and adjusted just right. It’s super sturdy as well as quiet, and it seems like it will serve it’s needs very well. I would say it’s worth the purchase. Especially for the price!

This is far better than I could have expected for a drill press. I will be honest, I was very skeptical about ordering equipment for my woodshop online. I much rather go to a hardware store and look at my products face-to-face.
However, I am so thankful I got the WEN drill press.
I used to use my drill to put holes in the materials, and with that, you cannot have a clean-cut hole in your materials because your hands won’t be as steady. This drill press makes very clean punctures into the wood I use.
I like making those triangle peg games, and the drill performed above expectations in regards to how straight and clean the holes were.
Pros:
Easy to operate
Setup was a breeze
VERY QUIET
Has different levels of speed you can change based on your project
Cons:
It can be tough to move the bands to change the speed levels
There is little to no padding to keep the drill from gliding off the table when it is on. I have a clamp holding it down to my workbench.
Changing bits can be challenging but not terribly complicated
I can confidently say this is the best drill press on Amazon right now,
An awesome 9/10!

Great quality for the money. Small but powerful. If you don’t have a regular work shop it’s great also because it small you mount it to a small table that you can easily move into a corner and you just pull it out as needed

The nut on the top belt case did pop off first time I opened it but I just tapped it out and put a short bolt that wouldn’t hit the belt on it. Seems ok so far haven’t drilled anything but seems steady and will surve my purposes . Solid little press tilt is a little cheesy but for 100$ who cares lol. Over all seems like a solid good little machine . ( Pay attention to directions as there are a few burs on the chuck that need cleaning with a fine file or diamond tip . Mine cleaned up decently prob not perfect but 100$ 8″ drill press I can’t really be to upset. Delivery was on time so that is good. Seems like everything I order on Amazon is problems these days so tiny nut falling off I can handle lol. I like it have some projects coming up think this little guy is gonna help out . Thanks 👍 (update been a few weeks) holding up descent. Lever did bend but I did reef it tight pretty good.. does descent if u use tap oil and go slow n steady. For 100$ I still like it. Make sure u have good bits as well.

This is my first drill press. I don’t need anything super big or heavy duty. I mostly do some small woodworking (like scroll saw work, etc.) and needed something to make small, precise entry holes at exact angles. I was pleasantly surprised when I received this drill press due to its heavy, sturdy base and construction. It does everything I need it to do and so far have been very pleased with it. The tilting table is sturdy enough for my needs. (I always use a digital inclinometer to set my angles because this is critical for the scroll saw bowls I make, so I don’t care if the table gauge isn’t exactly accurate.)
The unit runs very smoothly and quietly. The assembly was easy and quick. The instruction sheet is fair (not great but adequate for anyone used to putting things together). The drill press has a depth setting adjustment, which I really like. I’ve had no problems with the chuck. Just be sure to follow the directions and remove all traces of manufacturing oil from the shaft and chuck before mounting it so it won’t be likely to slip while in use.
I haven’t used it to drill anything super thick so far. Just mostly small entry wholes in hardwood. But so far no problems. I also use it with a 5-inch disc sanding kit that uses interchangeable hook-and-loop pads. I highly recommend this drill press to anyone needing something not too large or heavy duty. For the price, I’m very satisfied with it.

Great drill press, easy assembly (10 minutes). Speeds aren’t exactly as described, but the unit has plenty of power.
I use mine for metal, so I just have it set to the slowest setting which also provides the most torque. The resistance/return force in the feed arm was a little tight do I adjusted that as per the manual by easing the return spring.
This is a very basic drill press, great for home use or very light industrial applications. There are no bells and whistles. There’s no alignment guide on the table or column, which is a little annoying because as you raise of drop the table it will shift left/right and the center hole may become misaligned with the bit. I use a small PVC pipe in the hole to to keep it zeroed & aligned with the bit.
The two hex nuts that act as a depth stop beside the depth scale also tend to rattle and slide when the drill is turned on. I replaced them with nylon threaded nuts and now they don’t move and hold adjustment perfectly.
The press itself fully assembled weighs 34 lbs / 15kg, so it’s incredibly light as far as presses go and easy to move around. I use mine both affixed to a table and as a portable unit I clamp to portable work table outside.
As far as the build quality, all the metal is solid, no rust, the angles are squared correctly and it’s a very solid unit.
I strongly recommend using cutting/tapping oil on all meterial that’s not wood and just go easy. Your bits and this bench drill will handle any project as long as you go easy and apply proper pressure. If in doubt, use slower speeds.
