I was surprised at how simple it is to make homemade dog food with this book. The slow cooker recipes save time, and my dog loves the meals. It’s nice to know exactly what’s going into his food. Definitely worth checking out if you want to give your pet healthier meals.

  3. Candelaria

I used the Slow Cooker Dog Food Cookbook to create a variety of meals for my dog, Max. He is a picky eater, but he absolutely loved all of the recipes I tried from the book.

  4. Monica

I got this recipe book because I recently received a dog as a gift and I needed to know more about it. I was very satisfied with it and I highly recommend it to beginners because everything is explained in a very simple and clear way and I personally had no difficulty understanding it, lots of excellent recipes for my dog!

Dogs are not supposed to eat garlic leg cookbook has recipes with garlic In it, so I don’t like this cookbook.

This book shares a lot of good nutritional value that can be applied to your pets on a daily basis.

Whoever has a dog or may be interested in cooking dog food will find this book to be incredibly useful both to raise a healthy animal and to easily cook vet-approved meals in a slow cooker.
It’s truly amazing, as it is not just a great dog food cookbook, but also a good guide for special diets (e.g. for sensitive stomachs, weight management and so on…) and for therapeutic meals in case of health issues (for instance, for heart health recipes, for joint health boosters and so on…).
Furthermore, the book stresses out that meals made in a slow-cooker may be both cheaper and healthier than the ready-made food found in supermarkets.
It’s hence a book that makes the dog owners’ life easier and gets the dogs be better nourished and healthier.

This cookbook has some good advice and recipes (no photos, but I’m a home cook so I don’t need photos to help me along or show me what it’s going to look like). I was looking for new meal ideas for my 14 yr old dog. I’ve been cooking homemade food for her since she was 1 year old. I’ve cooked a few of the recipes already and she loved them. The huge problem I have (and why I’m giving it 3 stars) is with the Cover Design! If you look closely there appears to be green onion pieces sprinkled on the middle photo at the bottom – this is dangerous for people who are uninformed. Onions in any form, even the essence of onions are toxic to our dogs! Onions contain a toxic principle known as N-propyl disulfide. This compound causes a breakdown of red blood cells, leading to anemia in dogs. Another photo shows some type of shellfish and corn on the cob. DO NOT give your dog Corn on the Cob! Dogs who eat fast or quickly can grab the whole mini cob and try to swallow it, causing a major choking hazard! Corn on the cob can also cause serious digestive problems for dogs. If your dog doesn’t have any teeth, or if their teeth are not strong enough to properly chew the corn, it can cause issues such as vomiting or diarrhea. **Message to the author, Ryan Fetcher, change the cover photos. It’s a shame that you put all the effort into the recipes but used stock photos for the cover (that could potentially mislead pet owners)!

Slow cooking locks in nutrients and is an easy way to prep – put all your ingredients in and let them slowly cook. You can also slow-cook quite large batches if you have a larger dog. This recipe was reviewed by our very own nutritionist & vet who made some tweaks. We also have two options using our nutrient mix and the other DIY nutrients to ensure the recipe is complete & balanced.

  11. Crazdwriter

Ryan Fetcher doesn’t just simply give us easy to follow recipes for our dogs, he helps us with meal planning, what to focus on month to month, and best recipes for all stages of a dogs life. From puppy to young dog to adult to senior dog. This is an impressive cookbook all based around our furry best friend.

  12. Marcelo Pico

This cookbook is a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to make healthier meals for their dog. The slow cooker recipes are simple to follow and packed with wholesome ingredients that my dog loves. I appreciate how the book breaks down canine nutrition and offers a variety of meals for different dietary needs, making it easy to ensure my pet is getting all the nutrients they need. The 30-day meal plan is a nice touch, and it’s been surprisingly affordable compared to store-bought options. Highly recommend!

Really great book for a dog lovers. For some time I’d been wanting to make occasional home-cooked meals for my dogs, but never quite got round to fitting this in with cooking family meals… but using a slow cooker is just so convenient. Can highly recommend this Dog Food Cookbook!
