Works great in my combine to keep cab clean

I was looking for another handheld vac for the car, as I have been using a Black & Decker 20v (BDH2000PL), but find that the bin fills up quickly, and the dirt often clogs up the basket filter protector, and filter. My son in law loves Dewalt tools, and he recommended this unit. What a find! I could not be more impressed with the performance of this unit, in terms of strength of suction power, and the portability of the tool. It is a bit larger than the BD unit, but the hepa filter does not seem to clog or get much dust stuck on it, based on the design of the unit. Have vacuumed that car 3 times now, as well as the kitchen area in the home, and the bin holds quite a bit and suction does not suffer or degrade. I get about 45 minutes out of my 4AMP battery, and will have to see how the unit performs with the new 5AMP battery that arrives today. Highly recommend this unit if you are needing a strong portable hand held vacuum cleaner, or dust collector. Check out vids on Youtube showing the versatility of this unit.

I was a little apprehensive ordering this unit, some reviewers suggested that the build was not up to DeWalt standards. On receiving the unit I was pleased with both the build and performance. Works great with the supplied attachments for diy cleanup and especially useful for the car.

The suction power from this cordless vacuum is really nice. I like the LED light, near the handle. Also it has ten second shut off delay on the LED light, after the switch is turned off. It picks up Cat hair with ease. Quite the value for the money and seems durable. This vacuum works so nice, don’t let your wife… take it away from you, for her …to use.

I’ve gone through a few different stick vacuums over the years — supplementing my nice Miele traditional vac for deep-cleaning and my reliable Rigid shop-vac for bigger jobs — including trying a number of fancier, more expensive options as well as some generic knock-offs and cheap dust-busters …. But I was always running into various problems with cordless stick vacuums — they often seem to break down easily, aren’t easy to get repaired, they don’t run for more than a few minutes between recharges, and/or the suction power isn’t great, etc… I especially ran into a lot of problems with the batteries and chargers with various stick vacuum brands — like, don’t get me started on the year-long battle I had with a Greenworks stick vacuum, which was almost a decent vacuum except that it destroyed batteries constantly….

Anyway, I should’ve started with good old trusty DeWalt — every DeWalt tool I’ve owned has lasted for years and years and years and (knock on wood) every DeWalt battery I own has likewise never stopped working (even a lot of the generic 3rd-party knock-off batteries made for DeWalt products tend to be pretty great in my experience so far)….

And so far this DeWalt 20V Cordless Handheld Vacuum is living up to the same standards I’ve come to expect from this brand — it just works! It feels durable, it’s got good (not super-amazing, but quite good) suction power), it’s fairly lightweight but doesn’t feel cheap, compatible HEPA filters are easy to come by, its easy to clean, and it works perfectly with all of my existing (OEM) DeWalt and (generic) DeWalt-compatible 20v batteries… It also somehow seems to run for a relatively long amount of time on even a single battery, compared to other stick vacuums I’ve owned.

Oh, and another bonus: This uses pretty standard sizes for the attachments, so it’s actually compatible with the hoses and attachments of the vacuums of a number of other brands. So, for instance, I’m able to repurpose the attachments from my Greenworks stick vacuum to use with this DeWalt vacuum instead. (One caveat: The DeWalt vacuum does NOT supply power to attachments — so even though a lot of attachments from other brands will fit, if it was an attachment that needed power — like, say, a floor attachment that had a spinning brush on it — the attachment will work for suctioning air, but the components that need power won’t spin, etc.)

So — look, admittedly, this DeWalt vacuum doesn’t have any of the bells and whistles of some fancier stick vacuums, but it also costs a lot less than any of the really great stick vacuums that are out there, while being far more reliable and easy to use than almost anything else within its price range.

Another negative is that although DeWalt tools often come with some smart storage options — this item does not. It just comes with a rather disappointing net bag. No nice custom-fit box, no wall-hanging hardware, no way to connect everything together for storage, etc… But I just put a few big, basic garage-hooks on the wall and hung the vacuum and attachments from that, and, while not pretty, that’s working fine.

Also, if you’re thinking about buying this, keep in mind that it sadly doesn’t come with a battery — so that is an additional cost to deal with, if you’re not already part of the DeWalt battery ecosystem. But it’s a good ecosystem to get into, if you’re thinking about getting any other power tools or items like this.

I didn’t get this hand held vacuum to clean the whole house, I have a corded upright Hoover for that. I have two medium sized Golden Retrievers and with their long dog hair, they shed all year round.

I get fur balls that accumulate in little places in my house, especially near cold-air intake vents. I hate picking up fur with my hands and it’s a hassle to dig out the big wheeled Hoover, plug it in, assemble the hose nozzles and then drag it all over the house just to get a the dust bunnies. I needed a battery powered hand held with good suction that wasn’t a piece of crap. Enter the DeWalt DCV501HB. It was an easy choice.

I already have several battery powered tools using the 20V Max battery, and I have four batteries. The other DeWalt vacuums were older and comments said suction was low. This model was more recently introduced in May, 2022 and complaints about the older models were addressed with this one.

It comes with many more accessories than I thought, and all of them can be stored in the included net bag in one small space. I can expand my initial need to easily clean the car and dog hair on the furniture, everything I need is included. The storage canister using a HEPA filter isn’t big enough for my whole house cleaning needs but it’s perfect for what I have in mind.

The suction is plenty strong. It’s not as loud as I thought it would be and my hearing is important to me. I always wear ear plugs when I vacuum. At arms length, about three feet to my ears it measured 79 decibels, C weighted. Conversation is about 65-70 db, a gas powered lawn mower is 90 db. The noise of this vacuum is not overly loud in my opinion.

The HEPA filter is large, well matched to the size of the hand held. The DeWalt filter did not come with an external foam sock so I ordered four HEPA filters/8 foam rewashable outer filters. I grabbed one of the generic foam socks and put it on the DeWalt filter. It fit perfectly and was just what I wanted. to get more life out of the stock HEPA filter.

This is a great tool for my grab-n-go needs to pick up globs of dog hair. I will be using the 20V Max 2.5 Ah batteries, the small ones. The larger and heavier 5 Ah batteries are just not needed for how I will be using this tool.

Be aware that this tool does not come with a battery or charger. It’s OK to buy the generic batteries and charger although the OEM DeWalt batteries are better, albeit more expensive.

This is a great little vacuum even if you aren’t a devoted DeWalt guy like I am. If you already have DeWalt batteries and a charger then this one is a no-brainer. Highly recommended.

Hands down the most versatile and useful vacuum I have ever had. It is so nice having a handheld, battery powered vacuum that can be used for most surfaces. With all the added accessories that come with this vacuum it is easy to vacuum the floor, rugs, work surfaces and more. Great for vacuuming out my truck. I keep this in my shop to vacuum up saw dust and other debris. I can use it in the kitchen to vacuum the hard floor. The filter is easy to shake clean or replace. The dust collection is easy to dump. DeWalt did a great job with this vacuum, it is much lighter than the similar vacuum from Milwaukee.

As an avid DeWalt tool owner, I’m thrilled to have added the DEWALT 20V Cordless Handheld Vacuum (DCV501HB) to my collection—even though my wife quickly claimed it for indoor cleaning! The suction is impressively strong, and the HEPA filter does a fantastic job of trapping dust and debris. I also love that I can use the same 20V batteries I already own for my other DeWalt tools. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and surprisingly effective on everything from workshop sawdust to everyday household messes. Overall, it’s a versatile, high-quality addition to my DeWalt lineup.
