  1. David J Mitchell

These batteries last awhile depending on what speed your using the power tools, and then charge right back up in no time. It is so nice having a 2 pack, as I can continuously swap them out off of the charger. Plus, these are cheaper then stores in my area (unless there is a sale going on.)

  2. Ed R.

La carga dura bastante bien, en mi caso particular es bastante eficiente. Soy mecánico y las utilizo para una pistola de impacto de 1/2, para aflojar llantas tanto de coche como camioneta, para desarmar suspensión y cambio de balatas.

The DEWALT 20V MAX 5 Ah Lithium-Ion Battery 2-Pack is a game-changer for my tools. These batteries have greatly enhanced the performance and runtime of all my 20V MAX tools. The 5 Ah capacity provides plenty of juice for even my most demanding tasks, from drilling to sawing, without frequent recharges.

What really impressed me is the consistent power output—there’s no noticeable drop in power even as the battery nears depletion. They also charge relatively quickly, so I’m never left waiting long when swapping between jobs. Plus, having two batteries means I can always have one ready to go.

These are definitely high-quality batteries that live up to the DEWALT name. If you’re looking for reliable, long-lasting power for your cordless tools, this 2-pack is a must-have. Highly recommend!

    work great !

  5. Mike Anderson

As expected functionally. Charges and holds charge very well. Awesome price for 2 batteries. Definitely worth the price

  6. Jean Carlo Vazquez

  7. Robert Woodbury

Great as extra back up batteries. No issues. They’re quick charging and durable. The price can’t be beat.

  8. Steven Reddington

I use these professionally. They hold a charge for a very long time, charge pretty quickly, are relatively light for their size, they’re incredibly durable and easy to remove from the tool. I haven’t had any fail yet and I’ve been using them for years.

These work great and come at a very good value. I highly recommend them. Especially if your job depends on them.

  9. R M

Recharge best with dewalt charger. This was a upgrade to my assortment of dewalt batteries.

    Light weight and Powerful.
So much better than the old NiCd batteries!

These are the 4.0Ah batteries, and not to mention there strengths (associated with Li-ion batteries), they do last for a very, very long time, while under a constant heavy work load.
When I compare the same work I did with a older DeWalt hammer drill and the 18v XRP NiCd battery, with the new DeWalt DCD995 20V hammer drill, and just 1 of these DCB204 – 4.0Ah “Premium” battery, it’s a complete NO contest!
The new Li-ion battery from DeWalt last so much longer, I’m talking a full work day, & more! I just love these Li-ion battery packs!

As said in another review, you can get these packs in varying Ah capacities.
    1.5Ah, 2.0Ah, 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah

Before, I would need to change batteries usually twice a day, with the old 18v NiCd batteries and drill.
Now I can work for more than a full day with a single battery. So to me, thats one hell of a battery!

These light weight but powerful batteries also help with daily fatigue! I’m just so use to my old 18v hammer drill and battery weighing so much, and now this new combination of the DCD995 hammer drill, and the DCB204 – 4.0Ah battery weigh so little, it’s really hard to believe you can do so much work with just one of these batteries.
    But you can!!!
    & they are amazing!

I’ve been waiting a long time for DeWalt to come out with Li-ion powered tools.
I’ve been doing rough and finish carpentry for over 35 years, along with custom cabinetry.
This new line of 20V MAX tools they have are all very nice, and both heavy duty, and affordable
Now that they’ve incorporated Li-ion batteries for power, they will be able to expand there tool line even more.
Even though other companies started using them sooner, I’m glad DeWalt took there time!
It shows in the tools quality build, and there tools performance!

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the advantages of Li-ion chemistry over NiCd & NiMH, please use your favorite search engine, and read for yourselves. There is plenty of good information online for you!

I do see 1 or 2 people complaining about Li-ion batteries not performing as good as the older NiCd batteries, and truthfully, those people have NO facts to back up there statements.

Li-ion batteries are a Very slow self drain, to NO self drain battery, meaning they keep there charge for a very long time! They have superior storage capacity, and integrated circuitry, to control & regulate, high output voltage and current, over heating, and over charging. There is no more memory effect, like there is in NiCd batteries. They are very safe to use (today), with there built in IC’s

If these are on par with some of the best Li-ion batteries made today, they should be able to be recharged up to 500 times, and possibly more. I’m not sure what DeWalt says on this.

Though all batteries suffer, when used in cold weather, (lower output & performance), Li-ion batteries still out perform other batteries, in both work load & work time.
In other words, you couldn’t ask for a better battery to use out in the cold!
You can find many fact based web sites on this as well.

One last thing, both these new line of 20V MAX tools, and these new line of 20 volt batteries get good reviews and ratings from 99% of buyers, so when you do read one of those unfounded reviews saying these are not good tools, please just do your own homework and fact find for yourself, in the end, you’ll be glad you did!

Professional Quality Tools & Batteries, I Highly Recommended!!!

    LONG STORY SHORT:
I am so glad I bought these. They were more reasonably priced than the ones on SALE at the “Orange Hardware Store” (I got this 2 pack for $89.99). Seems to me like they are an older year/older model, but they work great. Current price at time of writing is $105 for the pair, or $59.55 for a single one. Even at $105 it’s worth it. **THESE ARE CURRENTLY $129 at the Orange Store**

    PROS:
-Did a little research (not a ton) and seems as though this battery not only has a longer battery LIFE than the 1.5ah that comes with many kits…but it also packs more power. Makes sense, and it definitely feels like it actually does. My saw seems to cut better through thicker stuff, sander seems more powerful, as does the drill, and impact driver. I’m sure there’s science behind it, but I don’t know it.
    -Great price!
The 20V MAX lithium-ion battery outperforms every dewalt battery that came before it and that’s saying a lot. Get long-lasting power and prolonged life from this 4ah battery that weighs just 1.42 lbs. Each battery has a built-in charge meter so you know how much power remains. Dewalt delivers huge value with this multi-pack, priced only marginally higher than a single device.

    HIGHLIGHTS:
    Includes: (2) 20V MAX high-capacity lithium-ion batteries
Compatible with all 20V Max lithium-ion chargers and power tools (sold separately)
Batteries maintain charge when not in use
Compatible with the entire line of 20V Max tools

    CONS:
-You can get lighter 4ah batteries in Power Stack form, but they are more expensive.

    CONCLUSION:
Buy. I recommend them. They work with all my Dewalt 20V tools, hold a charge well, have a lot of power, last longer than the ones that come in a kit.

  12. Robert Woodbury

I bought a knockoff brand. While it was half the price, the charge lasts half as long. If you want to work all day, buy these original batteries.

  13. Merv Hawkins

I recently got the Dewalt M2 drill/driver set and the 20v circular saw, the drill set came with 2 of these 4ah battery packs and they’re great so I bought this pair so I had a spare plus one pack for each tool.

These 4ah batteries are great – I get really good life out of them using them in the drill, impact driver and circular saw. I’ve just built a pretty huge 9′ x 8′ shelving and workbench unit in my garage – from a full charge, I was able to build the whole thing without recharging. Amazing compared to my old 18v powered stuff. Charge time is also faster which is a bonus.

The 4ah battery packs from my research offer the best $/ah ratio and these seem to go on sale more often than other sizes so it’s worth keeping an eye on the price and grabbing some when the price is right. In case yu’re confused by all the different Dewalt 20v battery packs like I was, here’s a handy guide illustrating the various models. These 204’s are the best bang for the buck!

    Model – Capacity – Color – Size
    DCB 200 – 3.0 Ah – 20 Volt standard black – thick
    DCB 201 – 1.5 Ah – 20 Volt compact black – thin
    DCB 203 – 2.0 Ah – 20 Volt XR premium yellow – thin
    DCB 204 – 4.0 Ah – 20 Volt XR premium yellow – thick
    DCB 205 – 5.0 Ah – 20 Volt XR premium yellow – thick

The thin ones are the same size and approximate weight – the thick ones are the same size and approximate weight.

So for example at today’s current pricing, the 205 5ah XR’s ($189) are almost 50% more expensive than these 204’s ($131), for only 25% more runtime (1ah per battery). The 2ah XR batteries are half the capacity of these 204’s and almost identical price ($129). Therefore in terms of capacity vs $$ these 4.0ah 204’s are the best value.

The ‘fuel’ indicators on these batteries are a super useful addition – very handy to be able to see easily how much juice you have left. Really glad I went for these 4ah packs, I was kind of tempted to go for smaller capacity but happy I stuck with these. They add a bit of weight/bulk to your tool (especially noticeable on the drills and the otherwise lightweight 887 impact driver), but this is a minor downside compared to the power and life you get out of them.

If you’ve got Dewalt 20v tools and you need good battery life, grab a pack of these, they’re great!

PS – to answer the 1 star reviews who bought fakes – always make sure with this kind of item that it says ‘ships from and sold by amazon.ca’ up top near the price – that’s the safest way! If it ships from some unknown seller, avoid it!

    Hope that helps.
