These seem like nice pliers, work well. I don’t use them daily but I’m sure they will out live me.

I ordered this as a replacement for an old MIT branded 6 inch diagonal cutter that is now lost. I also have a 4 inch from Irwin, so the 6 inch is for when the size is needed either for the additional leverage or for the larger size of the material to cut. I use this tool for cutting hookup wire, smaller electrical wire, cable ties, etc, and for my purposes, it works great. The handle is comfortable enough as it is a limited use tool, but I did find it a bit tight at the very start (maybe the first 5% at most) of its opening rage and again at the last maybe 20%. The middle of that works fine for a grip where you can open and close it with ease with using one hand. A little ATF and some breaking in mostly fixes this, leaving only maybe the last 10% a bit tight.

I cannot speak to the longevity of this tool. My prior MIT cutter I had for about 15 years before losing it and it never dulled on me. I don abuse this type of cutter so I am sure this one will likely last until it becomes lost since it seems to be a bit better quality than the lost MIT one.

I did not read any of the reviews before purchasing, but did before leaving mine. Some have complained that it is hard to hold in your hand. I would disagree with this, being this is an 8 inch tool, which by its very definition will have a wide opening compared to smaller ones. IF you are needing to open it that wide, it is my belief you are using the wrong tool. If you start to get to the wider opening of the blades, what you are cutting is a bit too big for the tool. You should likely be using a small bolt cutter vs a diagonal cutter. My hands are a glove size small, and I can operate this in the appropriate ranges without problems. The compound action portion is slight as some pointed out. Even being a slight difference at best, every little bit helps reduce hand fatigue, so I a happy to have it.

My only real complaint is a common one with the newer Craftsman tools, which is the branding and part number are not stamped into the metal, but either etched or even just printed on. This is easy to rub off and the brand and part number can be very useful during the life of the tool. I have needed this for warranty issues, replacement parts, and even at times finding an old tool that I was not sure what it even was. Using the brand and part number I can find this. While that has no impact on function, it is a dislike to me.

  7. James P.

They’re very good and cut real nice. Very sturdy and easy to use.

  8. Marvin

I ordered these pliers for a specific task. Drawer handle hardware ( 14 sets ) came with cut to length small bolts. I used these pliers to cut the bolt length down to fit the thickness needed to attach the handles correctly to the thickness of the drawer face. They worked great, up to the task, no harm to the cutting area.
    Tough tool!

  9. Ricardo

Excelente pinza de electricista, al principio el tipo de apertura hay que acostumbrarse .. pero excelente para uso cotidiano

  10. Daniel R Johnson

The offset of the motion is great for multiplying your grip strength.

  11. Hard Bush

Jaws do not open very wide.

  12. H.Hata….

Muito sólido, ótima empunhadura, excelente funcionamento. Qualidade Craftsman USA
