  1. Nikki

I like this serum. I found that it is easy to use. It isn’t sticky and it doesn’t have an overpowering smell. The ingredients in this are good and they will help reduce discoloration. I like the consistency of this, it is easy to apply. It doesn’t run everywhere but it doesn’t get gloopy either. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in the spots I have, but these ingredients do take time to work, it won’t happen overnight. I have used other items from this brand before that are good and some have broken me out. So far this seems to be in the good category. I like the bottle of this and don’t feel like it is flimsy or hard to open. I would recommend this, especially to those who are looking to reduce dark spots or acne scarring coloration.

  2. Customer Review

Using this serum has been a positive experience! As someone who is self-conscious about darker areas of my face (I have very pale and sensitive aging skin) I am happy with the way my skin is looking. I have used COSRX for other skin concerns and this new Alpha Arbutin Discoloration Care Face Serum is super easy to incorporate in my daily skincare routine. I like that it has no fragrance, doesn’t dry my skin out, and I only need to use a small amount to see results. My skin looks more even and less dull. I like the unusual top and dropper, it’s helpful to dispense the serum without it making a drippy mess.

I’m familiar with COSRX products, having had several positive experiences with the brand while living in Korea. The formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly without any tackiness, providing a boost of brightness and hydration. My skin is very sensitive, but this serum hasn’t caused any discomfort or irritation. I plan to continue using it to target minor scars and some discoloration around my cheeks from aging. I’ll report back in about a month after giving it a little more time to work its magic.

Has very little to no smell. Light texture. Very hydrating.

I’m a fan of this brand because they’re all about actives. I’ve used a combo of tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin before and feel like it gave my already good skin extra clarity. I use niacinamide separately and have never used glutathione topically, so the combo of all these together is really appealing to me. It comes in a uniquely shaped bottle and the formula is quite thin. I found I needed more than 2-3 drops to cover my entire face because it absorbs really quickly into the skin. It didn’t at all hydrate my skin, so if you have dry skin as I do, you will need to hydrate after. You can also mix this with vitamin c serum as these actives work well with that too. For those who have oily skin, you will love how this has zero greasiness.

I am excited to see how this serum performs in lightening discoloration over time, because it has a number of key ingredients which are supposed to be excellent. I have used COSRX’s Snail Mucin serum., and frankly I like this product even better. I have not applied it around my eyes, but so far it has not caused any visible ittitation to the areas I have applied the serum, which is a great sign. Vitamin C is often irritating to my skin, so to find a lightening serum for discoloration that so far does not seem to annoy my skin is fantastic- and just what I have been looking for. I will update with how this does over time, but wanted to share my experience so far for my fellow sensitive skin peeps- thumbs up!

  7. Rachel

I’ll start by saying this did make my cheeks a little pink the mornings after I use it, but that’s a common side effect of Niaminicide for a lot of people. It faded fast though and didn’t cause any other irritation or dryness. My skin does seem smoother and pumper after use too! It’s very easy to apply, and a thinner consistency so very easy to spread around. It’s not sticky or uncomfortable either. The bottle is huge so it should last for ages too!

  8. Meg V.

The COSRX 2% Alpha Arbutin Discoloration Care Serum sounds like a total game-changer! It’s packed with amazing ingredients like niacinamide, AHA, hyaluronic acid, and Vitamin E, making it great for acne, dark spots, scars, large pores, and smoothing out skin texture. Plus, it’s fragrance-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, and oil-free—big wins for anyone with sensitive or picky skin. And it’s cruelty-free and reef-safe, which makes me love it even more.

That said, it’s not totally irritation-proof—it might not work for super sensitive skin or conditions like eczema or rosacea because it could cause some dryness. And heads up, it’s not recommended while breastfeeding, so I’ll have to wait to give it a try.

I already use a bunch of COSRX products, and they’ve been amazing for my combo skin with severe psoriasis. My skin has never looked better, so I have really high hopes for this serum. If you’re looking for a product to brighten, hydrate, and smooth, this might just be it!
