Well my book is incomplete and missing a few pages. I have asked for an exchange so will update my review later. I love that someone took the time to write this book. However you have to jump around trying to figure out which recipes you can use for the first two weeks of FID. While also making sure not to add ingredients that it suggest that are not supposed to be introduced as of yet. I just is mind blowing that there wasn’t care taken to make this more user friendly. I honestly feel that between the problem with the missing pages and this book being user friendly that giving this book 3 stars is being nice.

I normally don’t write reviews because honestly, I’m lazy but this book is special. Not sure how i found it since i do not have eczema that bad but i do have really bad salicylate issues which cause a whole pile of very unpleasant GI issues (details spared for your benefit) when i eat certain foods. It took like a million years for me to figure out the reason i would get a stomach ache when I ate broccoli, drank coffee or almond milk was salicylates.

Book explains the problems, recommends some fairly inexpensive vitamins and supplies some nice easy recipes.
Also get her Exzema diet book which does have some other info. Good luck!!

This book was a great purchase. It is a very strict elimination diet, that a person has to do 100 percent! It gives some theories as to why the diet helps. It has healed my severe eczema 🙂 and now I just have to slowly re-introduce foods to find out what my trigger foods were. I did an elimination diet once before that helped, but I re-introduced foods too quickly and got muddled up and my eczema came back. If anyone is struggling with severe eczema and has already removed environmental triggers such as scented laundry products, pets, etc, and are willing to try a strict diet for healing – I highly recommend it. My eczema was so bad this summer that the doctor referred me to go to a specialist to get immune suppressing drugs such as methotrexate. But while I was waiting to see the new specialist, I did the diet, and it WORKED. My appointment is coming up on Friday and I am so anxious to show them how my skin has all healed by diet, because for years doctors have been adamant to me that my eczema is non food related. Mine was obviously environmental AND food related. Good luck to anyone else who is struggling with eczema – everyone is different but hopefully you can find your triggers. This book helps to find food ones at least.
Edited March 16, 2023 to add: I’m still eczema free! I had severe eczema for 40 plus years!!! But thanks to this elimination diet I discovered my eczema food triggers were dairy and soy. I also can’t eat gluten because it causes me digestive issues. I am able to eat all other foods now with no problems! I find it still actually leaves me a lot of variety and I’m so happy to have my eczema under control! Please keep in mind if you do this diet and it works it is not intended to be a forever diet on its own. It’s a tool to help you find your triggers. Interestingly I do not test allergic to soy or dairy at the allergist office. So thank goodness I gave the diet a try. I prefer avoiding soy and dairy versus having to be on methotrexate. Each to their own though because I can understand not everyone would want food restrictions. Best wishes to everyone!

Because I read Karen Fischer’s books, I started this eczema diet and the eczema is actually clearing up. All the doctors that I had been to said that there is no cure for eczema. They were incorrect in their assumptions…because going on this diet and finding out the foods that I was allergic to, helped me immensely. I am now 85% clear of eczema. I will stick to the guidelines of this book until I am free and clear of all eczema symptoms.

This book is easy to read and the guidelines are simple and spelled out. There are very good recipes and supplement guidelines as well. The diet took some getting used to, but now that I know the recipes, I have no trouble keeping up the diet. I wasn’t trying to lose weight, and because of this diet I have lost 30 pounds and I feel healthier than I have in years. Plus the eczema is all but healed.

Taught me so many things I didn’t know! My doctor just threw a topical steroid ointment at me with no other helpful solutions. Everyone is different, and this book breaks it down so you can figure out where your body fits. Game changer for me. Just by reading, I could figure out some of the triggers for me. While I appreciate the value of doctors, this book was more insightful and helpful so I can better learn my body, what triggers, and what heals. Highly recommend!!

Results from week one on “The eczema diet” Karen Fischer books.
I hit 30 (I’m 35 now) and have experienced 5 very painful years of severe eczema. It started on my hands and arms which are the most stubborn areas (they are scarred) but when it hit my face I lost it. 2018 my face/neck started flaring. I could no longer “hide” my condition with long sleeve shirts.

Like many of us I have been on nearly every prescription, tried every recommendation – maybe i didn’t want to admit my eating habits were the true culprit? I’m out standed and teary eyed. ONE week, wow! My face/neck are nearly clear.

My hands and arms are the worst but wanted to express how thankful I was to have a book that clearly illustrates the “ Eczema Diet “

    Must have!

This diet works! I have had eczema for over 15 years. I have tried everything, with little success. About 9 months ago I tried the Eczema Diet, the older version of this. After a couple of months my eczema was almost gone. About that time I got this book for the extra recipes. It has some updated information, and a special diet to start with that really helps you determine what is causing your eczema. After much success life got busy and I ended up not being able to follow the diet as faithfully. And, as time went on I slipped more and more. As I got away from my diet my eczema returned. I started again, this time with the diet from this book rather than the Eczema Diet book. After a couple of weeks my eczema is 95% gone- the best it has been in 15 years. It’s not the easiest diet, but it is very doable, and so worth it!

This eczema detox book has a current down to earth aesthetic that appeals to me while at the same time enlightens me to the science facts of chemicals in foods that may cause skin reactions such as eczema flares. This book is rich in ingredient and recipe lists so that I am able to customize what works for me considering the resources I have available. It’s my new BFF and I am no longer on a desperate search for help with my condition. Irritating salicylates in dark greens, coconut, frozen fish, and precooked meat were abundant in all the healthy food I was eating on a restricted paleo diet and my condition did not improve. With the list of skin friendly foods and supplements from the eczema detox book, I am able to make decisions that are lessening the itchiness and to test out other foods while I’m on the food intolerance diagnostic program.
