This a great set to add to tools. SAE and metric, both regular and deep, quality Dewalt sockets in a good case to keep all together.

On the surface, its just a socket set. What can be wrong with a socket set.
However, here are a few things, not enough to return it or complain about, but which will continue to annoy me as I continue to use it.
First, the set comes in a box. Good idea. However, you lay it down on the table and want to open it. You can’t. The latches go ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE TABLE SURFACE. There’s no space to put your finger under the latch to unlock it. You just placed the box on the table, now you have to lift the box from the table to grab the latch. Annoying.
Second, the table opens in two panes – top and bottom. The top pane contains standard sockets. The bottom one – deep sockets. Both panes feature combined imperial and metric subsets. ALL of the subsets lay out the size lines in different directions, in the top pane, the imperial starts from left to right; the metric – from right to left. In wraps up from left to right, but in the bottom one from right to left. WHY??
When I’m in the middle of doing something, its always intuitive, everything is from left to right. If a socket is too small, I grab next one on the right. Not here. Here I have to think. And then look. So I decided to turn them large number marking up, to at least see the socket size more clearly. For that I needed to pry them out. A-ha, which brings me to the next point.
Third, it is IMPOSSIBLE to pry the sockets out of their latched bed in the top pane with your fingers. You could brake your nails. Or fingers if you try too hard. So I had to implement a prying tool in order to use this DeWalt socket set for any length of time, because my fingers won’t last long enough to enjoy it.
The last part, the reason for buying a new set, my 1/4 inch socket rounded off. It was a popular and very old socket. So theoretically I only needed one standard 1/4 in socket. I’d be OK with a set. But standard imperial only. Instead, I had to pay for a combination, and not only standard, but also combination deep. Its like paying four times the price for what I need. And what I get, it is enjoyable?
The bottom line is, I used many socket sets, and this is the most upsetting acquisition. Mostly and probably, because its a DeWalt, and I use a lot of their power tools and they’re good quality. So DeWalt put the expectation bar very high for the sockets, too. But unfortunately, I expected too much.
So I wanted to share my experience with this product, so anyone who reads this, can set their expectations accordingly.
====Update
Last time I opened the case, half of the bits ended up on the floor when I was prying them out. Unacceptable.
So I decided to resolve the DeWalt issues by moving the sockets I will use into my primary case in place of the old worn out ones. They fit perfectly. Besides, all my sockets are now in a single pane – convenient. I consider this a very expensive upgrade to my favourite socket box. The deep ones went to the storage.
Shame, a great company like DeWalt wasn’t able to use best practices and put out a tool box that people would be proud to use.

I didn’t know the black would have such a rough finish. I really just want it to feel like a chrome socket but be black. But they’re great sockets and they are tough as nails so really no complaints. Great for my impact driver.

Looking to add these for my shop. These were exactly what I wanted and at a great price being far less then other outlets. Arrived the next day. Carry case is nice.

Nothing frustrates me more than that hard, crusty, seemingly painted-on nut that won’t come free no matter what. You know what I mean. The knuckles only have so much flesh on them. Well, with these bad boys on my impact wrench, those things were gone. Their weight helped remove those pesky protuberances so I could get the work done that needed to be done.

If you’re in the market for a solid and well made impact socket set look no further. DEWALT has always made really good sockets and these are no exception. I would definitely purchase this set again although I would never have to. This set will last a lifetime.

Nice sockets, I like that it’s a complete set of SAE and Metric, Regular and Deep. Only downfall, but not really a downfall is it doesn’t come with a ratchet. Love my DeWalt!
