This is a nice looking pan with matching press. My first cook on it tonight and I grilled a NY strip steak. Dry pre-heat, oil up the streak and applied S&P. Placed the steak once the pan reached 370 to 380 degrees F and it laid in nicely with a beautiful sizzle. The pan retained heat very well and the cook was positive the whole way through. On the flip I added a few table spoons of butter along with a string of rosemary and thyme and a crushed garlic clove. I tilted the pan and used a spoon to baste the steak with the bubbling hot compound butter. The grill marks were fantastic on both sides. Pulled at internal 125 F and covered to rest. The steak was juicy and delicious and more importantly, the pan cleaned up very easily with a light scrub using soap, sponge, and hot water. The handle did not get hot enough to burn me but you’ll want to use a towel if you are going to hold it for more than a few seconds during the cook. The helper handle is convenient and the press is an exceptional matching accoutrement which will be great for bacon and panini sandos. I needed a grill pan and did not want to spend a ton for this add on to my cookware. I picked up the red one and I could not be happier with this purchase. 5 stars across the board.

Used this for the first time last night and it was great. I used the top like a normal cast iron pan and seasoned it with bacon grease before use. There was a little sticking but you have to build a season on cast iron so it’s understandable. The more you season the better the non stick action. Also better to wipe out bits and juices before the pan cools. Makes it a little easier. The press was great I was able to cook two steaks at once and in less time than one steak with out the press. The steaks cooked so fast that the ended up a little more well than I usually like. But that will just take some tweaking on my end. Super fast and super delicious steaks so glad I bought this. Also I use my silicone handle cover for this it fits fine and keeps me from forgetting and grabbing a hot handle. Can’t beat the price.

The Tramotina enameled Grill Pan was packed very well and arrived with no problems.
The inside enamel is lightly coated and actually felt rough due to the cast iron natural roughness.
The edge is raw cast iron and you are encouraged by the instructions to season it.
I seasoned the inside and edge 3 times and it’s much smoother now.
Season by “lightly” coating the surface with oil.
Put the pan in a cold oven.
Set the oven to bake at 500 degrees.
Once temp is reached turn off oven and allow to slowly come down to room temperature.
*There will be smoke so be ready for that.*
This pan, like all cast iron, takes more time to equalize the temperature but once evenly hot stays that way better than non-cast iron.
So putting cold meat in it isn’t an issue as there is plenty “reserve” heat to get that sear.

I returned it because I really didn’t need it. It was pretty.

I have used this ;pan just about every day since I received it. It makes fast work of grilling a piece of meat indoors. I will turn the burner all the way up at first with pan on it and the panini lid in it. Both get heated up to a fairly high temperature and then I place the meat between them for about two minutes. I then turn the meat over and turn down the flame to cook the meat slower. I am very happy with this purchase and may consider other Tramontina cookware in the future.

It does panini pretty well. Chicken breasts etc… even after oiling cleaning is a challenge. Thinking of returning it.

I’m in love. This baby gets HOT and retains heat. Beautiful grill marks and the top weight is plenty heavy to hold down the food so it gets a good sear. I like to lightly grill bread then brush it with garlicky olive oil. Got that tip from Lidia. I haven’t tried grilled cheese but how bad could it be? Can’t beat the price.

Well made, nice enameling, great heat retention, but tedious to clean. It arrived well packaged, and timely. But even with the enameling and use of a fat, I took off a point for the amount of time it takes to clean up afterwards
