As someone who enjoys DIY projects, the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Reciprocating Saw has been an incredible addition to my toolkit. The power and efficiency it offers are outstanding, making tasks like cutting through wood and metal straightforward and quick.

One aspect I appreciate is its compact size, which allows me to get into tight spaces without compromising performance. The saw is easy to handle, and the lightweight design reduces fatigue, especially during prolonged use. The variable speed trigger gives me precise control over cutting speed, which is beneficial when working on different materials.

The blade changes are a breeze with the keyless lever-action system, which saves me time and hassle. This feature is especially handy when switching between cutting wood and metal. The saw’s power is impressive, easily cutting through thick lumber and metal pipes without bogging down.

However, the tool does generate some vibration, which is something to be aware of. Using gloves can help mitigate this issue, providing a more comfortable experience. Also, it’s essential to have a good quality blade to get the most out of this saw’s capabilities.

The battery life is decent, but having a spare battery on hand is a good idea for extended projects. The compatibility with other DEWALT 20V MAX* tools is a plus, as I can interchange batteries between different tools.

In summary, the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR Reciprocating Saw is a robust and versatile tool that has significantly improved my DIY endeavors. Its compact design, power, and ease of use make it a valuable asset for any DIYer or professional.

I can’t believe how many times I’ve already used this saw. Plenty of power and simple to use. Pick the right blade for your task and this saw can easily handle the workload. Thanks, Amazon!

Since I’m not out in the field remodeling and renovating any longer I use my older nicad pod style cordless tools to do work around the house and in the yard, I recently purchased an adaptor that converts the old pod style tool so that it uses the new lithium ion batteries.
My DeWalt recip saw is 16 years old and this adaptor made it sing like a new tool, but while out trimming limbs it just stopped working. Something is broken inside, not repairable so I had to start looking for a new one on Amazon. After some research on the web I found 2 that I liked and weren’t too expensive, I chose the compact recip saw as it is a bit lighter in weight and a few inches shorter than the other traditional style and can be used one handed.
It arrived this morning and I took it outside and started using it right away cutting small limbs from a fallen tree branch. Indeed I can use it with one hand, light and powerful with those new batteries, one thing l noticed right away is that the foot that is supposed to pivot is very stiff and hard to move. I will most likely have to put some WD on it to get it loosened up, I also think the price point is too high for a smaller less powerful recip saw. It is 400 RPM’s slower and a few ounces lighter than a traditional saw.
It fits well in my hand but if it is pushed hard and one is not wearing gloves this saw’s handle will leave blisters on the area between the thumb and index finger.
The saw performed well through many hours of cutting limbs and pruning out in the hot Texas sun, and all can do is hope it lasts as long as my old one.

Delivered quickly and met expectations, perfect addition to my Dewalt tool collection

I bought this to replace an old heavily used unit. That one was also 20v but nearly 10 years old. They’ve made some nice improvements! This thing is smaller, lighter, and more powerful. The battery lasts longer. The blade has horizontal and vertical mounting options, great to have. The foot is not adjustable for depth like my old one but I don’t really miss it.

I purchased this for many projects bit used it a few nights ago when I needed to reduced the size of some elk leg bones to make bone broth. This tool made quick work of some seriously thick and strong bones. The tool is relatively comfortable and the vibration, while present, is not horrible. It may likely add up if using for hours at a time. This is a great tool. Highly recommend.

I had to cut down a crepe myrtle. I got tired of having to run a looong power cord for my corded Dewalt sawzall. I am impressed with this battery operated model. It is shorter and a little lighter. It has a little less zip, but it took down the crep myrtle with ease. My favorite part is that you do not need a chuck key. I should have bought one sooner

This works great in tight areas, love this saw zaw.

The thing I like about this sawzall is that it’s compact while still give a huge amount of power and weighs only 5 lbs so it’s got good leverage and also enough to hold 1 handed. One thing I like too is it cuts fast because of its reciprocating stride, 1 1/8 inch that is. But one thing to mention is the blade will wobble quite a bit compared to makita or malwakis sawzall, still the numbers of pros and cons out number them selves and I think that this bad boy is perfect for work like an electrical and plumbing. As a electrician I recommend trying it out.

I bought this instrument knowing that it will be exploited in hard conditions cutting dirty, greasy and dusty materials. We were using it intensively during the day twice replacing the batteries. I recommend this instrument to people who need something heavy duty, high quality and reliable. And I recommend everyone to buy DEWALT.

  13. Amiri

I used it for pruning and it cuts super fast.
Keep in mind this is a bare unit without batteries. I already have batteries since I own other Dewalt 18V (20V in US) power tools.

    Highly recommended.
