I purchased this Impact Wrench mainly to remove lug nuts from my cars and trucks, and my cousin does this thing work. It is heavy, but it has to be to do the job. So far, I haven’t asked it to do anything it isn’t ready to do with ease. The Dewalt brand has been one that I have trusted for years, and based on the quality of this tool, it will be my go-to for a long time to come.

*********************************************************************************************************************
The Good:
Very powerful. Forward. Reverse. Don’t matter.
With a DEWALT 8AH battery pack on power setting #2, this thing unscrews 22mm wheel nuts and 21mm caliper bracket bolts very easily, even the ones with orange Loctite.
Power setting #3 it’s overkill most of the times to tighten anything and unscrews anything violently.
Don’t get distracted or this thing it’s going to smack you and your wrist HARD. 😂
The built-in LED lamp emits enough light to see everything in front of the wrench in the dark.
The variable speed trigger it’s a must have on ANY impact wrench and here it works flawlessly.
The pistol grip feels good on a bare, oily, dirty hand but much better and safer (stronger grip) with leather or rubber gloves on, as you should be equipped to begin with before start using this tool.
**********************************************************************************************************************
The Bad:
It’s heavy. DEWALT claims 7lbs w/o battery.
If you’re planning on using it for extended periods of time and if you slap a big 8AH battery pack like a did, it’s just going to get worse. Not a problem for me as I went in knowing that.
Under prolonged heavy use you WILL physically destroy your batteries.
The high power and the resulting vibrations are a double edged sword.
I try to minimize the problem by grabbing the battery with one of my hands when using the wrench.
DEWALT does not make the battery bumper, a.k.a BATTERYGUARD(TM) standard equipment, however, they’ll be happy to sell it to you as an extra.
That tells you that they know there’s a problem but feel it’s not critical enough yet to hurt their sales and tarnish their name. Time will tell.
Don’t trust the PRECISION WRENCH(TM) mode, use your own hand feel judgement and experience and you’ll be better off. I tried it, then went over it with a manual wrench to assert my suspicions and felt it was way off when it came to applying the correct amounts of torque on different fastener types and sizes.
The “run off prevention on reverse” feature did work as advertised but I see it more as gimmick than a true helping feature. JMHO.

Final Thoughts:
If you need a powerful and reliable cordless impact wrench, be it at home and even at the shop, you won’t be disappointed with this one.👍

This sucker cracks rusty truck lug nuts with ease. No breaker bar needed to get that initial crack . Great for out in the middle of a farm field or on the highway where no air compressor is available. I dont even use my air impact guns anymore..even in the shop.

I can’t believe the power that this tool has to remove tire nuts. Easily removed nuts from a moderately rusted trailer and vehicles after a salty years on the roads. It weighs a bit but likely needed for the torque it has. No vibration to the wrist at all. 5Ah battery lasts forever and fits all my other DeWalt tools.

DeWalt impact works better then my air powered one. It will take any tough nut or bolt loose. Must have in the tool room for any shop mechanic or construction.

Frankly this thing is a tank. I got it because I had to replace the stump jumper and blades on my bushhog. Long story short I hit a chunk of buried metal and shredded the blades. My phunumatic impact could not get the bent and messed up bolts off. This thing didn’t even struggle. The head size of the bolts is 1-1/2 inch. It took them off like they were 5mm. A bit heavy but you’ll get used to it. It rotates quick. And functions great. I assume it’s gonna drink the battery cause of the power.

The breakaway torque of this thing is amazing. I usually keep it on bolt mode so it eases into it. It’s broken rusty exhaust free without breaking studs, and it has taken off most of the axle nuts we’ve thrown at it with the first try, with minimal effort, and very smoothly.
This definitely keeps up with the other snap-on and Milwaukee air and battery impacts we have around the shop at a very reasonable price point. We’ll see if the quality holds.
