The Kindle Paperwhite is my first e-reader, and it’s made a massive difference for me. I had been reading on my iPad Pro and my phone, but this soon took a big toll on my eyes since those screens, even at their warmest settings, are still very blue and bright. My job requires me to look at screens all day, so looking at even more screens for reading in my spare time exacerbated my eye strain issues.
Enter the Kindle Paperwhite. After much deliberation (and too many sore-eyed reading sessions), I decided to take the plunge. I was initially worried that the surface area wasn’t big enough to avoid eyestrain, but this worry was quickly quelled once I had spent some time with the Kindle. It’s roughly the size of a small-medium book, though words do take up more surface area. This is adjustable, however — the customizability of text is amazing for accessibility, with options of adjusting the size, boldness, font (including fonts designed for dyslexic readers!), and spacing between lines. The ability to fine-tune the color temperature and brightness is a godsend. I typically keep my Kindle on level 9 brightness and level 12-14 warmth; this works for most settings, and works even when I’m reading in low light. You don’t have to go deep into bottomless option menus to find these settings, either — you can adjust on the fly by tapping at the top of the screen and using the sliders there.
The e-ink is not as lightning-fast as a smartphone or tablet display, but it’s very responsive and I’m more than satisfied. I’ve known folks who had Kindles since 2012 — they’ve really come a long way!
I also love how easily the Kindle integrates with my library’s app for ebooks. From my phone, I can open the app, connect my Amazon account, and the ebook from my library appears instantly on my Kindle.
I’ve included photos of my Kindle Paperwhite next to my iPad pro and a mass-market paperback for scale, as well as to compare warmth and brightness. (These pictures are taken in a low-light setting, where I typically read during the evenings.)
If you’re debating if the Kindle is right for you, I hope this helps!

The all-new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is an absolute game-changer. From the moment I turned it on, I could tell this was a serious upgrade. The new 7-inch glare-free display is stunning, it’s larger, brighter, and sharper than previous models, making reading a joy whether I’m indoors or outside in direct sunlight. The text is crisp and easy to read, even for long hours.
The performance is incredibly fast. Pages turn almost instantly, and navigating through books or menus feels smooth and responsive. It’s clear that Amazon has prioritized speed and efficiency in this model. With 16 GB of storage, there’s plenty of room for all my books, PDFs, and audiobooks. I haven’t even come close to filling it up yet!
One of my favorite features is the battery life. It genuinely lasts for weeks on a single charge. I read daily, and I only need to charge it every couple of weeks, even with the light on at moderate brightness. This level of battery life is so convenient, especially for trips where I don’t want to carry a charger.
The design is sleek and lightweight, making it comfortable to hold for long reading sessions. The size is perfect, not too big or heavy, but large enough to enjoy the enhanced display. It’s also waterproof, which is great for reading by the pool or in the bath without worrying about damage.
If you’re an avid reader or looking for an e-reader that combines quality, performance, and convenience, the Kindle Paperwhite is absolutely worth it. It’s a fantastic investment for anyone who loves reading on the go or at home!

I recently gifted my mom the Raspberry Kindle Paperwhite, and it’s been a total game-changer for her reading routine! The sleek, vibrant raspberry color gives it a cheerful and modern look that she absolutely loves. The glare-free display makes reading effortless, even in bright sunlight, and the adjustable warm light is perfect for cozy evening reading. The battery life is phenomenal; she can go weeks without charging, even with regular use. Plus, the waterproof feature adds extra peace of mind for her poolside and bath-time reading sessions. It’s lightweight and easy to hold for long periods, which has been great for her hands. My mom is thrilled, and I couldn’t be happier seeing her enjoy it so much! Highly recommend this for any avid reader in your life.

I love the kindle paper white. It’s a great quality item. It’s easy to hold and functions as expected. It works great with a page turner. The buttons all work as expected. My daughter is able to carry it along wherever we go and always has multiple books available to her. She gets through her reading list a lot quicker.

Screen clarity is perfect and the paperwhite background is easy on the eyes. Color is beautiful (I got the raspberry). Size is great for holding or suspending in front of you. It set up seamlessly from my kindle app on my phone. Functions quickly and has an incredible battery life. I received mine around January 6th. It’s now the 23rd and I only charged it the day it came in. I read several hours a day. I’m extremely happy with mine. Worth every penny I spent. The screensaver ads aren’t a bother either. They’re actually targeted toward the genres I read anyway, it seems. I absolutely would recommend this to anyone looking for an ebook reader that’s comfortable for the eyes.
